Antjas - They are prickly, but don't hurt unless you try to pick one up.
Rambling Around - I toss them away. But I have seen people around here make them into pumpkins. They paint them orange and glue fake leaves on them in the fall to use as decoration.
I figured this would be a good way to get out and better my photography skills. Susanville, California is surrounded by mountians and is a great spot for outdoor recreation. Enjoy!

Didn't know that California had tumbleweeds! I thought that was a Texas and Oklahoma thing. What do you do with them?
