Shoes, Sandals, and Casts, Oh My!

Hello! I am finally back from computer hell! I have a new computer and I forgot how much I missed visiting the other Daily City Photo sites!
This 'Shoe Tree' is on US Highway 395 between Reno, NV and Susanville, CA. The cast on the tree caught my eye! Normally the tree is full of different shoes and sandals. There have been an occasional ice skate or roller skate, but the cast is a first!
Now let's see how long it takes Cal Trans to tear down the shoes that accumulated over the summer.

Yeah, that cast is a bit scary, but it is getting to be that season.

Welcome back.

How cool is this! Love the fact that the shoes are so different. The cast is a hoot.

I love it when unrelated and unknown people collaborate in the creation of public art. Thanks for showing this wonderful tree sculpture, Jana. And welcome back to the world of the web. I seem to go into withdrawal if I'm away for more than a few hours. (How sick is that?)

Thanks Chuck, it was like going cold turkey without a working computer, lol.

GMTA - I just pulled over this weekend on the way home from Winnemucca and took a photo of the cast - I thought it was very seasonally festive!

Hi Jana, I like your website here and really like your photography! Glad you survived computer hell, I've been thru it twice thise year! OMG I SWEAR I think I KNOW who's cast that is! this girl (well woman now..) that I knew in high school over 3 decades ago told me she had recently parted with her leg cast (without the Dr.'s approval or assistance ... *sigh* what canya do??)! This helps with the ol' Seasonal Affective Disorder "stuff" - - thank you for making me smile! Sincerely, Valerie

how funny? People do this to mark territory in New York. I wonder what the occasion was?
