The Chimney

Between the towns of Susanville and Westwood is a lone chimney. A few years back, some ladies in Westwood decided to start a charity. They named it the Chimney Fund. I am pretty sure those ladies are the ones that decorate the chimney for different occasions. The Chimney Fund host local fundraisers and help a lot of children in need.
Thank you to Maureen at:http://durbandailyphoto.blogspot.com/!!!! I now have the DCP search widget here on my blog!!!!

What an interesting photo! Never seen anything like it. They decorate it?!?

Do you know the history of it? Seems it was some sort of a big place, hu? Or is it the chimney which would have been in a regular house?

As far I can tell, the house that used to be there was probably a small farm house. It sits along the highway and is surrounded by grazing fields. During Christmas there were some ribbons and a wreath. I should ask around about the history of it.

There is now a plaque erected near the chimney explaining its history. The spot was originally a Chevron station and was later bought by a couple who turned it into a tavern, and built the chimney. A bartender was shot by a disgruntled patron in the 1940s. There is a charitable fund associated with the chimney. They have a site on Facebook. (The Chimney Fund)
