Wishing for warmer weather......

Today we have a winter storm warning. Warnings of 'blizzard like' conditions are forecasted into the evening.

Here is a photo overlooking Main Street in Susanville from August 07. It was warm, but not too hot.

The bottom of the photo shows the old buildings, referred to as 'Uptown'. The high school buildings are in the middle of the right hand side of the photo. As you can see, the town is surrounded by fields. Some are hay fields, many are cattle fields.

It's a very pretty town. I hope that you all miss the winter weather. We are under a "winter weather advisory" here, too. Come on, Spring!

What a vantage point you had, Jana. How high were you?

I really like small towns bordered by fields. Nice perspective you've found for your town.

where did you take this shot? My sister lived for years in susanville. it's great to see how it looks these days (she moved away in about 92)

The street is so straight it leads me to wonder where you took your photo from. It appears a tall building would have been in the street.

I took the photo from a trail just above Main Street. Inspiration Point has a walking trail (used to open to cars) that towers over the town. I cropped the sharp curve on Main Street out of the bottom of the photo.

Something to remember a warmer time by. Warm summer evenings, lazily strolling around town with the camera.

I can relate to your sentiments here and in the pic below. Snow, cold, ice, cloudy gray skies. We're ready, anxious for spring.

This has such a lovely feel to it - industrious but not the frantic over-busy-ness like the bigger cities.

Excellent picture.
