Road to Susanville

There are a few highways that lead to Susanville. This is a shot of Highway 395 near the Red Rock turn off between Reno, Nevada and Susanville. Its very desolate area. There are cattle ranches and a few TINY towns between Reno and Susanville. We always laugh that this our 'Hills Have Eyes' area for anyone who has seen that movie.

Wow, this is a really lovely picture, I love the vantage point, I feel like I'm standing at the top of the road. :)

There are a few gas stations. Doyle (home of the world famous lizard races), Herlong, Milford, and two in Janesville. All very small towns. Milford has less then 80 people.

I love road photos, probably because I like to go! This one and the snow one are both so neat.

Thanks for all of your comments at my blog.

Amazing shot! My stomach drops just looking at the dip in the road ;-)

BTW- how do you train a lizard to race?

Photos like this make me want to jump in the car an just go - anywhere, so long as it's an open road.

Lovely photo.

I am a native of Susanville, but moved away when I was 13, however it will always be my home. So I love seeing these pictures. I started collecting shots of the area a few years back, the ones made by Eastman Studios. I especially love the ones of the snow scenes. I really miss the snow....

This picture I used to see a lot because my Dad lived in Reno so I took this trip many times. Everyone from Susanville used to go shopping in Reno.
