Susanville Elks Lodge

Its been cold here and I am already wishing for the warm weather. I ran across this photo taken back in August. The Elks Lodge sits at the top of town (uptown) where Main Street curves to go up the hill towards Eagle Lake and becomes California Highway 36. This building hosts weddings, proms, community events, crab feeds, rib cook offs, etc. The large pine tree on the right side of the photo is the town Christmas tree during the holidays.

Oh what a glorious old building! Preserved and still used! This makes my heart sing!!!!!

Wondering what the full history is? Who built it originally and all that jazz.

Oh I'd love to get inside. :-) Getting inside some of our older houses in my city, is a joy for me. When I manage to do so... via going to estate sales and having friends in real estate, get me in. -giggles-

I would love to have a house like that in a setting like your town. Very pretty.

A treasure of a building of a long=ago era. It looks like it would be a great place for parties.
