Susanville Mill

The old mill was closed by Sierra Pacific a few years ago. The days of the lunchtime whistle and endless smoke from the different smoke stacks are gone. It was once commonplace to see logging trucks stacked full with logs.

There is a plan to tear down the mill and convert the land to open space, residential and commercial areas. A river walk is planned. We will see if this project ever gets off the ground with the current housing slump.

Welcome to my world! Florida was the hardest hit by this real estate crash - a lot of projects are left half finished...

I hope the project pans out. Revitalizing the mill would be great. There was a rock quarry in San Antonio Texas (35 minutes from Seguin) that was recycled into a shopping center that is really popular now! Good luck b/c the riverwalk is a great attraction.
