City of Susanville Recreation and Park District

The City of Susanville Recreation and Park District sits one block off Main Street. The former home houses the office. The dark brown building on the left of the photo is the recreation center.
As someone that used to work for a few large park districts in Sacramento County, its sad to see no recreation programs going on in the city. There is City Care, a daycare for after school and school vacations. But there is nothing else in terms of special events, kids programs, teen programs, etc. The recreation supervisor job was eliminated a few years ago. I guess if the residents don't know what they are missing, then there is no incentive to speak up at city council meetings.

I think our town does a good job of keeping kids entertained at least during the summer and hopefully they learn something along the way.

Its a shame they dont have programs geared towards kids.

I hate how they are cutting parks and recreation programs in so many municipalities now. I agree that sometimes residents don't realize what *could* be done, too.

It seems like a nice headquarters, and I love that it's in an old house. Maybe things will begin to pick up in that department.

Well...

You're a resident now...

And YOU know what you're missing, what with this lack of recreation programs.

Spread the word. Make everyone else realize that they want a real youth program, too! :)

It is sad how often our parks and recreation programs suffer from lack of funding ... or just lack of public priority.
