Sacramento River Headwaters

On Saturday we visited the small town of Mt. Shasta, CA. The City park has a spring coming out of the base of a mountain that many consider to be the start of the Sacramento River. Others feel that two rivers downstream that merge are the official start of the Sacramento River. No matter how you feel, the Sacramento Headwaters at the Mt. Shasta City Park is a great place to visit. It was still cold and there were snow flurries. But, by May this area will be beautiful with flowers and plant growth.

I'd like to see it in May too :) For now it is limpid and must be very cold.

That top photo ought to be a jigsaw puzzle, and I mean that as a great big ol' compliment.

I will visit your area in May in the year 2012, four years from now for the Annualar Eclipse of the Sun, the track of which passes through Northern California then.
I can also see the spring flowers then
The NASA website has infomation on eclipses if you wish to find out about them

It is always a pleasure for me when I hear the burbling waters of little falls. I can almost hear them now.
